A.P.C. Spring Footwear ‘09

Posted in Footwear with tags , , on July 5, 2008 by Teflon Jon

Here is a preview of the A.P.C. and Nike Spring ‘09 collaboration.  The two brands have worked together to create 3 new canvas sneakers.

Now here’s a closer look at the A.P.C. spring footwear line.  A.P.C. does a great job retaining that classic feel to their deck and dress shoes.  Using brown leather soles and soft leather tops you can expect these shoes to be a hit come spring.  We’ll keep you posted.

“Me and My Sneakers” A-Trak x Lupe Fiasco

This track was recorded for a collaboration between Kanye and Nike Running, but apparently Nike wasn’t feeling it and cut it from the album. Although the lyrics have little to do with sneakers, it’s definitely worth a listen – thanks to Kanye’s blog we have access to the track. click here to listen.

Ever x Esquivel

California based clothing brand Ever has teamed up with shoe designer George Esquivel to make their first line of men’s shoes. This collaboration resulted in some great hand-crafted men’s shoes, including the loafers and combat-style boots pictured below.

The leather is hand cut and massaged into shape, resulting in a seriously high quality shoe which should be able to withstand some abuse. According to the Ever website, the finished product “bares the detailed markings and subtle imperfections of the laborious craftsmanship necessary to create each pair.” These shoes fit nicely with Ever’s image as a classic, comfortable luxury travel brand.

Look for these shoes to be available here sometime this summer.

Reebok Freestyle Music Evolution

Ladies, take notice – these kicks are hot.

Reebok is set to release three different colorways in the Music Evolution Collection this July. Inspired by punk rock and hip-hop, the bright colors and patent leather straps are a tribute to early 90’s streetwear, while the black and white design, along with the chain on the heel, reference 80’s punk fashion.

The Paramount Dunk

Here is a look at the SBTG x Lazy Paramount Dunk. You can see that this sneaker is the perfect mix of simple design and great materials. This sneaker is fashioned from Gucci selvage denim – used for its durability (selvage denim won’t fray as much as lower quality denim), with a snakeskin swoosh. The emphasis on quality materials and classic design result in a great looking sneaker. You can expect these to be launched soon by Royalefam.

Leather Jacket Converse

There are few things I enjoy more than a good pair of Cons, and if the Leather Jacket hi-tops feel as awesome as they look, my feet will be in heaven.

With zippers on the tongue and heel, and patchwork leather rather than the traditional canvas, the great detail is what really sets these apart from your average chucks. They are a part of Converse’s Century Collection and will be hitting the shelves in July.

Check out more from Converse here.

Extreme Heels for 2008

Posted in Footwear with tags , , on May 26, 2008 by rocky

Heels have never been the most comfortable choice but ever since the vertically challenged Catherine de’ Medici turned to footwear for a greater stature, discomfort has been the price paid for beauty. This year’s designers have turned to the extreme and have left the chunky heels of 2007 behind.

This year, we have Sergio Rossi’s Studded Leather Sphere Heel. These are a marble, I mean marvel! The red and gold give it a very edgy and sexy look.

Then we have the ever-daring Marc Jacobs, who has brought us the Backwards Heel, which come in many different colors and materials in either a peep toe or round toe. My favorite has to be the color-blocked patent leather. But lets get serious, my ankles hurt at the thought of simply trying to stand in them.

It seems Takashi Murakami, who has worked with Marc in the Spring 2003 line for Louis Vuitton, has influenced Marc’s Japanese-style Peep Toe Booties. They have a Geta style sole, with separate heels at the arch and heel of the boot.

Out of all of these the most practical is the Cutout Metal Heel from Scorah Pattullo, available as a sandal or a round toe 4″ heel.

Let’s face it ladies: they might kill, but these heels are just way impossible to ignore!

Lacoste Missouri S/S ‘08

Ever since Sneaker Freaker hooked up with Lacoste to bring back the Missouri 85’s we’ve seen a lot renewed focus on their footwear.  Lacoste is dropping six new versions of the Missouri 85’s for spring/summer ‘08, and besides the full grain + nubuck they’re adding a new “croc” edition for some extra flash.footwear

Feit Footwear

So we’re diligently awaiting the 2008 line up from Tull Price and Rodney Adler’s Feit (pronounced fight) brand, but I still can’t get over last years K2 PNTHA’s. In a time when everyone rocks rainbow kicks, Feit gave us a classic hi-top silhouette casted by Italian leather and tone-on-tone white stitching. Not to mention gun metal details, reinforced heel stitching, and a supple glove leather lining to elegantly wrap their Vibram 3 piece soles. If you’ve already seen this then you probably know it’s worth seeing again.
