J. Fuego Cigars: Natural and Corojo No. 1

Posted in Cigars with tags , , on April 19, 2008 by Bobby Baklava

Today we have for you two new cigars released by tobacco farmer and cigar developer Jesus Fuego. The Fuego family has been growing tobacco in Cuba since the 1800’s and working with the famed Plasencia family, J. Fuego has transitioned successfully from supplying raw materials to offering two great cigars: the Natural y Corojo Number One. The natural has a shade grown criollo wrapper, and all criollo seed filler from Honduras and Nicaragua. The Corojo No. 1 has a Honduran wrapper, and a Honduran Filler. Both are hand rolled and blended by J. Fuego himself. The Natural smokes like a dream, not much spice but you could puff it all day. The Corojo No. 1 has more punch and is very smooth, both well priced amazing cigars available at the Owl Shop (Main St., Worc., MA). Only small batches were made so get to ‘em before they’re gone!

Rei Kawakubo does H&M

For their fall collection, H&M has teamed up with the famed Rei Kawakubo, founder and head designer of Comme des Garçons. The collaboration will include a men’s and a women’s collection, as well as a few children’s pieces, accessories, and an exclusive unisex fragrance.

Picture from NY Fashion Week 2008

Kawakubo says she is excited to work on this project, as it affords her the opportunity to solve the dilemma of how to balance creation (her top priority) and business. As H&M launches its second store in Japan and attempts to break into the Harajuku market, Kawakubo’s talent could give them an edge (a wise move on their part, considering UNIQLO’s massive popularity).

After debuting at the opening of the new Tokyo store in early November, the fall collections will be released in H&M stores around the world, and I can’t wait!

Faux Pas?

I don’t know what happened, but I have heard nothing about this album. But then again, that could be why I like it so much. Sure, the video is the manifestation of a seizure, but you can’t argue with those distortion pedals.

Oh, by the way, The Raconteurs released Consolers of the Lonely back on March 28th.

The highly anticipated new Black Keys album – Attack and Release is out today! Produced by Danger Mouse, this album marks their first “serious” studio recording. I hope their new found riches and access to fancy equipment doesn’t take away from that medium-fi sound I love so much. If only I had the ability to grow an abundance of facial hair, I’d rock that beard so hard right now.
