Howlin Rain

Posted in Music on February 29, 2008 by Vobot

I just discovered a little band called The Faces and I apologize for being 40 years behind but who knew Rod Stewart could be so cool. Just for us young’ns, The Faces was frontman Rod Stewert, Ron Wood- the future guitarist for The Stones, Kenny Jones- future drummer of The Who, Ian McLagan (keyboards), and Ronnie Lane (bass). Now that I’m up to speed on my rock history I’ve serendipitously stumbled upon Howlin Rain, the psych rock reincarnation of Faces.

Founder Ethan Miller from the acid-rock band Comets On Fire recruited Ian Gradek (bass), Mike Jackson (dummer) and Garret Goddard (keyboards). Taking a break from avant-rock and underground improv, their unfiltered psych-laden classic rock sound makes me think of whiskey, sunny afternoons, watermelon and Joe Walsh in no particular order.

Cassette Mockneck Hoodie

As always, House of Cassette delivers. The Spring ‘08 line “A Study of Movement in Quiet Space” follows nicely the Alaskan inspired Fall ‘07 collection.

Their spring line features some great jackets, but my favorite is the Mockneck Hoodie. The construction is what makes this hood stand out – made from brushed cotton, lined with a thermal knit, a heavy duty YKK zipper comes almost to the chin, and the hood is lined with 100% boiled wool.

Yves Saint-Laurent x Colette

You’ll be counted among one of the most fortunate if you can get your hands on one, this new leather pouch by colette features remarkable construction.  We dig the silver finish and envelope design. Whether or not you’re a fan of the YSL house you can’t deny the pied-noir designer’s place in fashion history.
